David Rabe November 29, 2014

There were many Goals for 2014, but one of my top goals was to learn to climb. Trivial at first glance but it was a culmination of a few important pieces. The first was the physical challenge of the sport. I have spent the past few years setting physical challenges in structured parameters through Racing Triathlon and competing in Cross fit. This was designed to be setting physical uncontrollable challenges on my own terms, only in competition with myself. The second, was that it was a world in that I knew nothing about and knew had a lengthy/risky learning curve.

I spent a few Nights slipping off holds on the beginner routes though the year in the bouldering gym. Failing pretty hard each time but grew to love the learning process. Last weekend happened to be the last available weekend to venture out and apply the culmination of my knowledge on the Granite of the natural features of Joshua Tree. It was a magical/ trying experience I got to share with some of my closest friends. Check mark.
